What is Domain ID Protection?

Domain privacy(ID) protection is a service that legally replaces a domain owner’s user info in the WHOIS with the info of a forwarding service. For the provision of service, we collect information from all our clients. This information is required by Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN). This information is publicly available whenever someone does a WHOIS search.

Some of the major reasons why domain ID protection is important are:

  • Protect yourself from spam. Domain ID provides for a significant source of email addresses for spammers.
  • Protect yourself from online fraud and scams
  • Protect yourself from identity theft.

Which TLDs accept domain ID protection?

Domain ID protection is currently only available to the following TLDs: com, net, org, biz, info, name, tv, cc, me. Some TLDs such as the .us require actual information on WHOIS as opposed to a forwarding service.

How do I prove ownership of domain?

You can do that by simply disabling domain ID protection from the members account.
